Generic Composition:
-
Glimepiride 2 mg (Sulfonylurea)
-
Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg (Biguanide, Extended Release)
Category: Oral Anti-Diabetic (Dual Combination)
Description:
Glador M 2 Fort Tablet is an oral anti-diabetic combination medicine used to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and single-drug therapy are not sufficient.
-
Glimepiride lowers blood sugar by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin.
-
Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver, slows glucose absorption from the intestines, and improves the body’s response to insulin.
Together, they provide better glycemic control, lowering both fasting and postprandial (after-meal) blood sugar levels, and help prevent long-term complications of diabetes.
Uses:

Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
-
Helps reduce risk of complications like neuropathy, kidney damage, retinopathy, heart attack, and stroke
Mechanism of Action:
-
Glimepiride (2 mg): Stimulates pancreatic beta cells → increases insulin secretion → lowers blood glucose
-
Metformin (1000 mg ER): Reduces liver glucose output, delays intestinal glucose absorption, improves insulin sensitivity
-
Combined effect: Strong glycemic control with lower risk of severe fluctuations
