Generic Composition:
-
Glimepiride 2 mg (Sulfonylurea)
-
Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg (Biguanide)
Category: Oral Anti-Diabetic (Dual Combination)
Description:
Glycomet GP 2 Tablet is a dual-drug combination used in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults, particularly when diet, exercise, and monotherapy are not enough to maintain blood sugar levels.
-
Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, lowering blood sugar.
-
Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver, delays absorption of sugar from the intestines, and improves the body’s response to insulin.
Together, they help achieve better control of blood sugar levels, target both fasting and post-meal glucose, and reduce the risk of long-term diabetes complications.
