Uses / Indications
Ramipres 5mg Tablet is prescribed for:

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – standard strength for controlling BP.

Heart Failure – improves heart function and survival.
-
Post-Myocardial Infarction (after heart attack) – lowers recurrence risk and complications.

Long-term prevention of stroke, kidney disease, and cardiovascular events in high-risk patients (diabetes, CKD, CAD).
Mechanism of Action
-
Ramipril is an ACE Inhibitor.
-
Prevents conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II → stops narrowing of blood vessels.
-
Relaxes and dilates arteries → lowers blood pressure.
-
Reduces strain on the heart, improves circulation, and protects kidneys.
Dosage & Administration

Usual adult dose: 2.5–10 mg daily.

5 mg once daily is a common maintenance dose.
-
Dose can be increased depending on BP control and patient response.
-
Can be taken with or without food.
-
Take at the same time daily.
-
Do not stop suddenly without doctor’s advice.
Side Effects
Common: dizziness, headache, persistent dry cough, fatigue, stomach upset.
Serious (rare): low BP, high potassium, kidney issues, angioedema (swelling of face/throat).
