Composition
Each tablet contains:

Uses / Indications
Cardace-H 5/12.5 Tablet is prescribed for:
-
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – when single therapy is not sufficient.

Reducing the long-term risk of stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and kidney complications.

Patients with fluid retention (edema) due to diuretic effect.
Mechanism of Action
-
Ramipril (ACE Inhibitor): Prevents conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II → relaxes & widens blood vessels → lowers BP.

Hydrochlorothiazide (Diuretic): Increases urine output → removes excess salt & water → lowers BP.
-
Together, they provide dual action for stronger and sustained blood pressure control.
Dosage & Administration

Usual adult dose: 1 tablet once daily.

Can be taken with or without food.

Take at the same time each day.
-
Do not discontinue suddenly without doctor’s advice.
Side Effects
Common side effects:

Dizziness, headache

Increased urination

Weakness, tiredness

Dry cough (from Ramipril)

Nausea, stomach upset
Serious but rare:

Very low BP

High potassium (from Ramipril) or low potassium (from HCTZ)

Kidney impairment

Precautions & Warnings

Use with caution in patients with:

Kidney or liver disease

Heart failure

Electrolyte imbalance (sodium/potassium disturbances)

Not safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Avoid alcohol (may worsen dizziness).

Regular monitoring of BP, kidney function, and electrolytes is required.
