Uses / Indications
Betaloc 25mg Tablet is prescribed for:

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

Angina (Chest Pain due to reduced blood supply to the heart)

Arrhythmias (Irregular Heartbeats)

Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction) – recovery & prevention of further episodes

Heart Failure – improves survival and reduces hospitalizations

Prevention of migraine headaches (off-label use)
Mechanism of Action
-
Metoprolol is a Beta-1 Selective Blocker.
-
Blocks beta-adrenergic receptors in the heart → slows heart rate → reduces workload on the heart.
-
Lowers blood pressure by reducing cardiac output.
-
Improves oxygen demand-supply balance in the heart → relieves angina.
Dosage & Administration
-
Usual adult dose: 25–100 mg daily (in divided doses).
-
25 mg once or twice daily is a common starting dose.
-
Should be swallowed whole with water.
-
Can be taken with food (to improve absorption).
-
Do not stop suddenly – may cause rebound hypertension or chest pain.
