Uses / Indications
Ciplar 40mg Tablet is prescribed for:

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

Angina (chest pain due to reduced blood supply to the heart)

Arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms)

Prevention of Migraine headaches

Anxiety (performance anxiety, palpitations, tremors)

Thyrotoxicosis (overactive thyroid symptoms)

Post-heart attack care – reduces recurrence risk & improves survival
Mechanism of Action
-
Propranolol is a Non-selective Beta-Blocker.
-
Blocks Beta-1 (heart) and Beta-2 (lungs, blood vessels) receptors.
-
Reduces heart rate & contractility → lowers BP and cardiac workload.
-
Improves oxygen supply-demand balance in the heart → relieves angina.
-
Controls adrenaline-related anxiety symptoms and tremors.
Dosage & Administration

Usual adult dose: 40–160 mg daily (in divided doses).
-
40 mg may be given once or twice daily depending on condition.

Take with or after food to avoid gastric irritation.

Swallow whole with water.
-
Do not stop suddenly – may cause rebound hypertension, angina, or arrhythmia.
Side Effects
Common side effects:
