Uses / Indications
Gudcef-CV 200 Tablet is prescribed for bacterial infections such as:

Respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis

Ear, nose & throat infections (otitis media, sinus infections)

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Skin & soft tissue infections (cellulitis, abscess, wound infection)

Bone & joint infections
-
Gonorrhoea & other susceptible bacterial infections
Mechanism of Action
-
Cefpodoxime: 3rd generation cephalosporin antibiotic → inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis → kills bacteria

Clavulanic Acid: β-lactamase inhibitor → prevents bacterial resistance → boosts Cefpodoxime’s effectiveness

Combined Effect: Broad-spectrum action against resistant bacterial strains
Dosage & Administration

Adults: 1 tablet every 12 hours (depending on infection severity)

To be taken after meals for better absorption & less gastric upset

Must complete full course as prescribed by doctor → prevents resistance
Side Effects

Common: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain

Rare: rash, itching, headache, dizziness, oral/vaginal fungal infection

Severe (rare): persistent diarrhea (C. difficile), liver enzyme elevation, severe allergic reaction
