Uses / Indications
Cefakind-CV Dry Syrup 30 ml is prescribed for children in bacterial infections like:

Respiratory tract infections: pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis

Ear infections (otitis media)

Urinary tract infections (UTI): cystitis, pyelonephritis

Skin & soft tissue infections: cellulitis, boils, abscesses, wound infections

Mechanism of Action

Cefuroxime (Cephalosporin antibiotic): Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death (bactericidal)

Clavulanic Acid (Beta-lactamase inhibitor): Blocks enzymes that cause antibiotic resistance, enhancing cefuroxime’s effect

Combined Effect: Strong action against both Gram-positive & Gram-negative bacteria, including resistant strains
Dosage & Administration

Children: Usually 20–30 mg/kg/day (calculated on cefuroxime component), divided into 2 doses, as per pediatrician’s prescription

Reconstitution:

Add boiled & cooled water up to the mark → shake well to form suspension

Shake well before each dose

Use provided measuring cup/spoon for accurate dosing

Give after meals for better absorption

Use within 7–10 days after reconstitution; discard leftover syrup after that
Side Effects

Common: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, headache

Rare: rash, dizziness, oral thrush, vaginal yeast infection
