Monocef 1gm Injection?

Monocef 1gm Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections. It contains Ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin that is highly effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

It is administered via intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection and is typically used in hospital settings under medical supervision.

Mechanism of Action

Ceftriaxone works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death. It binds to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins) involved in the construction of the bacterial cell wall, disrupting the wall and causing the bacteria to die.

Uses / Indications

Monocef 1gm is used to treat a wide variety of serious bacterial infections, such as:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia)

  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

  • Intra-abdominal infections

  • Skin and soft tissue infections

  • Bone and joint infections (e.g., osteomyelitis)

  • Meningitis (inflammation of the brain/spinal cord lining)

  • Gonorrhea (sexually transmitted infection)

  • Sepsis and bacteremia (blood infections)

  • Pelvic inflammatory disease

  • Pre- and post-surgical infection prophylaxis
