Dosage & Administration:

Adults: 500 mg – 1 g IV every 8 hours (depending on severity).

Children: 10–40 mg/kg every 8 hours.

Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.

Side Effects: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, headache, injection site pain/swelling. Rare: seizures, liver enzyme changes, low blood counts.
Precautions:

Drug Interactions:

May reduce effectiveness of valproic acid (risk of seizures).
