Description: Meromac 1 g Injection contains Meropenem, a powerful broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic. It works by killing bacteria and is highly effective against severe hospital-acquired and resistant bacterial infections. It is administered intravenously under strict medical supervision.

Uses:

• Pneumonia (including hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated)

• Urinary tract infections (UTI)

• Intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis, sepsis)

• Skin & soft tissue infections

• Meningitis

• Septicemia and bloodstream infections

• Infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: 500 mg – 1 g IV every 8 hours (depending on severity).

• Children: 10–40 mg/kg every 8 hours.

• Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.

Side Effects: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, headache, injection site pain/swelling. Rare: seizures, liver enzyme changes, low blood counts.

Precautions:

• Avoid in patients allergic to carbapenems, cephalosporins, or penicillins.

• Use cautiously in patients with seizures or kidney disease.

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding use only if clearly needed and prescribed.

Drug Interactions:

• May reduce effectiveness of valproic acid (risk of seizures).

• Probenecid increases Meropenem levels (avoid combination).

• May interact with anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin).

• Inform doctor about all other antibiotics and ongoing medicines.

Storage: Store below 25°C, protect from light & moisture. Use reconstituted solution immediately or as instructed. Keep away from children.
