Description: Susten 100 Injection contains Progesterone, a natural female hormone. It is used in hormone replacement therapy and for supporting pregnancy in women with progesterone deficiency. It helps in preparing the uterine lining for pregnancy, maintaining early pregnancy, and treating menstrual or infertility problems.

Uses:

• Luteal phase support in infertility treatment

• Recurrent miscarriage due to progesterone deficiency

• Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

• Secondary amenorrhea (absence of periods)

• Irregular menstrual cycles and dysfunctional uterine bleeding

• Assisted reproductive techniques (IVF support)

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults (female): 25–100 mg IM/IV daily or as prescribed depending on condition.

• Route: Deep intramuscular injection (usually in gluteal muscle) or slow IV.

Side Effects: Pain/swelling at injection site, dizziness, headache, bloating, breast tenderness, mood changes. Rare: allergic reaction, blood clots, jaundice.

Precautions:

• Avoid in patients with history of breast/uterine cancer, liver disease, unexplained vaginal bleeding, or clotting disorders.

• Use with caution in heart disease, migraine, asthma, diabetes.

• Not recommended in pregnancy unless prescribed for luteal support.

• Avoid alcohol and smoking (increases risk of clotting).

Drug Interactions:

• May interact with anticonvulsants (phenytoin, carbamazepine) and rifampicin → reduces effectiveness.
