Description: Lupride Depot 3.75 mg Injection contains Leuprolide Acetate, a GnRH agonist that reduces sex hormone levels (testosterone in men, estrogen in women). It is widely used in treating hormone-dependent conditions like prostate cancer, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, precocious puberty, and in IVF protocols.

Uses:

• Prostate cancer (palliative management)

• Endometriosis (to reduce pain & lesions)

• Uterine fibroids (to shrink size before surgery)

• Precocious puberty (early puberty in children)

• Assisted Reproductive Techniques (IVF cycle suppression)

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: 3.75 mg IM/SC once every 4 weeks.

• Children (precocious puberty): Dose individualized by weight/age every 4 weeks.

• Route: Deep intramuscular or subcutaneous injection (Depot – sustained release).

Side Effects: Hot flashes, sweating, mood changes, headache, nausea, decreased libido, injection site pain. Long-term use may cause bone thinning (osteoporosis). Rare: allergic reaction, irregular heartbeat.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in osteoporosis, diabetes, depression, and heart disease.

• Women may experience temporary symptom flare-up in initial weeks.

• Calcium/vitamin D supplements may be needed during long-term therapy.

Drug Interactions:
