Description: Avil Injection contains Pheniramine Maleate, an antihistamine that blocks the action of histamine, a chemical responsible for allergic symptoms. It provides rapid relief in allergic conditions, insect bites, drug reactions, anaphylaxis (with other medicines), and also helps in motion sickness and itching.

Uses:

• Allergic conditions (rhinitis, urticaria, hay fever)

• Insect bites and stings

• Drug-induced allergies and skin reactions

• Anaphylactic reactions (as supportive therapy with adrenaline & steroids)

• Motion sickness and pruritus (itching)

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: 22.75–45.5 mg IM/slow IV (usually 1–2 ml depending on severity).

• Children: Dose individualized as per weight/age.

• Route: Deep IM or slow IV injection.
  👉 Should be given only under medical supervision.

Side Effects: Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, headache, nausea. Rare: low blood pressure, palpitations, allergic reaction at injection site.

Precautions:

• Avoid in patients allergic to pheniramine or other antihistamines.

• Caution in glaucoma, asthma, severe liver/kidney disease, epilepsy, and elderly patients.

• May cause sedation → avoid driving/operating machinery.

• Not recommended in pregnancy/lactation unless prescribed.

Drug Interactions:

• Increased sedation with alcohol, sedatives, sleeping pills, opioids.

• May interact with antidepressants (MAO inhibitors, tricyclics).

• Additive effect with other antihistamines.

Storage: Store below 25°C, protect from light & moisture. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
