Uses / Indications
Betadine 10% Ointment is used for the prevention & treatment of infections in:

Minor cuts, wounds, abrasions, scratches

Burns (minor thermal burns & scalds)

Post-surgical incisions (as antiseptic dressing)

Skin infections caused by bacteria, fungi & some viruses
-
Bed sores, diabetic ulcers, and other minor skin lesions
Mechanism of Action

Povidone-Iodine releases free iodine slowly on application
-
Free iodine kills bacteria, fungi, protozoa & viruses by disrupting their cell walls and proteins

Provides broad-spectrum antiseptic protection and prevents wound infections
Directions for Use

Clean the wound / affected area with water or saline
-
Apply a thin layer of ointment directly on the area or on sterile gauze
-
Cover with dressing if needed

Repeat 1–2 times daily or as directed by physician

Rare: local irritation, redness, or allergic skin reaction

Prolonged use on large wounds may cause iodine absorption → caution in thyroid disorders
