Uses / Indications
Cefakind-CV 625 Tablet is prescribed for moderate to severe bacterial infections, including:

Respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis

ENT infections: otitis media, throat & sinus infections

Urinary tract infections (UTI): cystitis, pyelonephritis

Skin & soft tissue infections: cellulitis, abscesses, wound infections

Bone & joint infections

Post-operative infections

Resistant bacterial infections where standard antibiotics fail
Mechanism of Action
-
Cefuroxime (2nd generation cephalosporin antibiotic): Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis → causes bacterial death (bactericidal)

Clavulanic Acid (Beta-lactamase inhibitor): Blocks bacterial enzymes that destroy antibiotics → restores and enhances cefuroxime activity

Combined Effect: Strong coverage against both Gram-positive & Gram-negative bacteria, including resistant strains
Dosage & Administration

Adults: 1 tablet twice daily, or as prescribed by physician

Children (>12 years): Dose depends on weight; pediatric suspension recommended for younger children

Take after meals for better absorption

Duration: usually 7–14 days, depending on infection severity
Side Effects

Common: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, headache

Rare: rash, oral/vaginal yeast infection, dizziness, mild liver enzyme changes
