Metolar XR 50mg Tablet is prescribed for:

Mechanism of Action
-
Metoprolol is a Beta-1 Selective Blocker.

Lowers heart rate, cardiac output, and workload → reduces BP.
-
Improves oxygen balance in the heart → prevents angina.

Stabilizes heart rhythm and protects after heart attack.

XR (Extended-Release) formulation → provides 24-hour effect with once-daily dosing.
Dosage & Administration

Usual adult dose: 25–200 mg once daily (depending on condition).

50 mg once daily is a common starting or maintenance dose for hypertension & angina.

Swallow whole with water – do not crush or chew.

Take with or immediately after meals.
-
Do not stop suddenly – may cause rebound hypertension, angina, or arrhythmias.
