Uses / Indications

Moxikind-CV Dry Syrup is prescribed in children for treatment of bacterial infections such as:

• Respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis

• Ear, nose & throat infections

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Skin & soft tissue infections

• Dental infections

• Bone & joint infections

Mechanism of Action

• Amoxicillin: Kills bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis

• Clavulanic Acid: Inhibits β-lactamase enzyme → prevents resistance

• Result: Highly effective against β-lactamase producing bacteria

Dosage & Administration

• Children: Dose based on body weight (usually 20–40 mg/kg/day of Amoxicillin in divided doses, as prescribed by doctor)

• Shake bottle well after reconstitution (adding boiled & cooled water to marked line)

• Administer with measuring spoon/syringe

• To be given after meals for better absorption and less stomach upset

• Complete the full course even if child feels better early

Side Effects

• Common: diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, mild rash

• Rare: fungal infection, severe allergy, liver enzyme elevation

• Severe (rare): persistent diarrhea (C. difficile infection), jaundice

Precautions & Warnings

• Use only under pediatrician’s prescription

• Not effective against viral infections (cold, flu)

• Caution in children with liver/kidney disease or history of drug allergy

• Store reconstituted syrup in refrigerator (2–8°C) & use within 7 days

• Discard leftover syrup after expiry of 7 days
