Uses / Indications

Ramipres 5mg Tablet is prescribed for:

• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – standard strength for controlling BP.

• Heart Failure – improves heart function and survival.

• Post-Myocardial Infarction (after heart attack) – lowers recurrence risk and complications.

• Long-term prevention of stroke, kidney disease, and cardiovascular events in high-risk patients (diabetes, CKD, CAD).

Mechanism of Action

• Ramipril is an ACE Inhibitor.

• Prevents conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II → stops narrowing of blood vessels.

• Relaxes and dilates arteries → lowers blood pressure.

• Reduces strain on the heart, improves circulation, and protects kidneys.

Dosage & Administration

• Usual adult dose: 2.5–10 mg daily.

• 5 mg once daily is a common maintenance dose.

• Dose can be increased depending on BP control and patient response.

• Can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects

Common: dizziness, headache, persistent dry cough, fatigue, stomach upset.
