Description:

Amaryl M 2 mg/500 mg Tablet is an oral anti-diabetic combination medicine used for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It contains two active ingredients:

• Glimepiride (2 mg): A sulfonylurea that lowers blood sugar by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin.

• Metformin (500 mg): A biguanide that decreases glucose production in the liver, slows glucose absorption in the intestines, and improves insulin sensitivity.

Together, they provide better glycemic control, reduce fluctuations in blood sugar, and lower the risk of long-term diabetes complications.

Uses:

• Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus when diet, exercise, and single-drug therapy are insufficient

• Prevention of diabetes-related complications such as neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, heart disease, and stroke

Mechanism of Action:

• Glimepiride: Stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells → lowers blood glucose

• Metformin: Reduces hepatic glucose output, enhances insulin sensitivity, and delays intestinal glucose absorption

• Combined effect: Controls both fasting and post-meal blood sugar levels effectively

Dosage & Administration:

• Typically taken once or twice daily with meals (as prescribed by doctor)
