Description

Amlodac 5 Tablet contains Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB).
It works by relaxing blood vessels, improving blood flow, and reducing the workload on the heart.
It is mainly used for high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina).

Uses / Indications

• High blood pressure (Hypertension)

• Chest pain (Angina pectoris, chronic stable or vasospastic angina)

• Heart-related complications due to hypertension

• Prevention of cardiovascular events (stroke, heart attack) in high-risk patients

Dosage (General Guidance)

(As prescribed by physician)

• Adults: Usually 5 mg once daily, may be increased up to 10 mg/day depending on blood pressure response

• Can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day

Route: Oral

Side Effects

• Swelling of ankles/feet (edema)

• Headache, dizziness, fatigue

• Flushing, palpitations

• Nausea, abdominal pain

• Rare: Low blood pressure, fast heartbeat, gum swelling (gingival hyperplasia)

Precautions / Warnings

• Use cautiously in patients with severe heart failure, liver disease, or very low blood pressure

• Avoid sudden discontinuation without doctor’s advice

• May cause dizziness – avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until response is known

• Safe for long-term use if prescribed

Drug Interactions

• Other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering effect)

• Beta-blockers, nitrates (↑ risk of low BP & dizziness)

• Grapefruit juice (may ↑ Amlodipine levels)

• Certain antifungals & antibiotics (may ↑ side effects)
