Composition

Each tablet contains:

• Amlodipine Besylate equivalent to Amlodipine 10 mg

Uses / Indications

Amlopres 10mg Tablet is prescribed for:

• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – especially in patients not controlled with 5 mg.

• Angina Pectoris (chest pain due to blocked heart arteries).

• Coronary Artery Disease (CAD).

• Long-term prevention of heart attack, stroke, and kidney damage due to uncontrolled BP.

Mechanism of Action

• Belongs to Calcium Channel Blockers (CCBs).

• Relaxes and widens blood vessels → lowers blood pressure.

• Improves oxygen delivery to heart muscles → reduces chest pain.

• Lowers the strain on the heart.

Dosage & Administration

• Usual adult dose: 5–10 mg once daily.

• 10 mg is the maximum recommended dose for adults.

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Should be taken at the same time every day.

• Do not skip or stop suddenly without doctor’s advice.

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Swelling of ankles/feet (edema)

• Headache, dizziness, flushing

• Palpitations (fast heartbeat)

• Fatigue or weakness

Serious but rare:

• Severe low blood pressure

• Worsening of angina in first few days (rare)

• Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution in patients with:

  • Severe liver disease

  • Heart failure

  • Very low blood pressure

• Avoid alcohol (may worsen dizziness).

• Pregnant & breastfeeding women: use only if prescribed.

• May cause dizziness → avoid driving if affected.

Drug Interactions

• Other antihypertensive medicines

• Certain antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole)

• Certain antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin)

• Grapefruit juice (increases side effects)
