Composition

• Each 2.5 ml respule contains:

  • Salbutamol Sulphate equivalent to Salbutamol 2.5 mg

  • Sodium chloride & sterile water (excipients)

Uses / Indications

Asthalin Respules are prescribed for:

1. Asthma attacks – quick relief from acute bronchospasm.

2. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

3. Chronic Bronchitis.

4. Wheezing & breathing difficulty due to airway narrowing.

5. Exercise-induced bronchospasm (if recommended by doctor).

How It Works (Mechanism of Action)

• Salbutamol stimulates beta-2 receptors in the lungs.

• Causes relaxation of airway muscles → bronchodilation.

• Helps air flow freely, giving relief from wheezing, tight chest, breathlessness.

Dosage (General Guide – as directed by doctor)

• Adults & Children (over 12 years): 2.5 mg (1 respule) via nebuliser, 3–4 times daily.

• Children (6–12 years): 2.5 mg (1 respule), up to 3–4 times daily.

• Children (<6 years): 0.1 mg/kg body weight (only under medical supervision).
  (Dose and frequency strictly as prescribed by doctor.)

How to Use

1. Twist open the respule.

2. Pour contents into nebuliser chamber.

3. Inhale the mist deeply via mask/mouthpiece.

4. Duration: usually 5–15 minutes.

5. Clean nebuliser after each use.

Side Effects

Common: Tremors, headache, palpitations, throat irritation, nausea.
Serious (rare): Chest pain, irregular heartbeat, worsening breathing, allergic reaction.

Precautions & Warnings

• Not for regular daily asthma control → only for acute relief.

• Use cautiously in heart patients, diabetics, thyroid disorders, high BP.

• Use in pregnancy & breastfeeding only if prescribed.

• Do not exceed recommended dose.

Storage

• Store below 30°C, in original foil pack.

• Use immediately after opening.

• Keep out of reach of children.
