📌 Description

Azee 250 Tablet contains Azithromycin, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby preventing bacterial growth and multiplication. It is effective against respiratory tract infections, skin infections, ear infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections.

✅ Indications / Uses

Azee 250 is prescribed for the treatment of:

• Upper & Lower Respiratory Tract Infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis)

• Ear, Nose & Throat Infections (otitis media, sinus infections)

• Skin & Soft Tissue Infections (cellulitis, abscess, impetigo)

• Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) – chlamydia, gonorrhea

• Typhoid fever (as per physician’s advice)

⚠️ Not effective against viral infections such as cold or flu.

💊 Dosage & Administration

• Adults:

  • 500 mg on Day 1, followed by 250 mg once daily from Day 2 to Day 5 (typical regimen for respiratory infections).

  • For STIs: A single dose of 1 g may be prescribed.

• Children: Dosage depends on body weight (usually 10 mg/kg on Day 1, followed by 5 mg/kg/day for 4 more days).

• Should be taken as prescribed by the physician.

⚠️ Side Effects

Common:

• Nausea, vomiting

• Diarrhoea, abdominal pain

• Loss of appetite

• Headache, dizziness

Serious (rare):

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, breathing difficulty)

• Irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation)

• Liver problems (jaundice, dark urine, fatigue)

• Inform doctor if you have liver disease, kidney problems, or heart rhythm disorders.

• Complete the full course to prevent resistance.

• Drug Interactions: Avoid with antacids containing aluminum/magnesium, warfarin, digoxin, ergot derivatives, and other antibiotics without medical supervision.
