Uses / Indications

Candiforce 100 Capsule is prescribed for treatment of superficial & systemic fungal infections, including:

  • Dermatophytosis (ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch)

  • Onychomycosis (fungal nail infections)

  • Pityriasis versicolor (skin fungal discoloration)

  • Candidiasis (oral, esophageal, vaginal, systemic)

  • Aspergillosis, Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis (deep fungal infections)

  • Fungal keratitis (eye infection, if advised by specialist)


Mechanism of Action

  • Itraconazole (Triazole antifungal):

    • Inhibits synthesis of ergosterol (essential for fungal cell membrane)

    • Weakens fungal wall → inhibits growth & kills fungus

  • Effective against a wide range of yeasts, dermatophytes & molds


Dosage & Administration

  • Adults:

    • Skin infections: 100 mg once or twice daily, depending on severity

    • Nail infections (onychomycosis): 200 mg daily for 12 weeks, or pulse therapy (100 mg twice daily for 1 week per month × 3–4 months)

  • To be taken immediately after a full meal for better absorption

  • Dosage & duration vary by infection type → strictly as per doctor’s advice


Side Effects

  • Common: nausea, stomach upset, headache, dizziness

  • Rare: rash, swelling, liver enzyme elevation, irregular heartbeat

  • Severe (rare): liver toxicity, congestive heart failure (long-term use/high dose)


Precautions & Warnings

  • Use only under doctor’s prescription

  • Avoid in patients with liver disease, kidney disease, or heart failure

  • Drug interactions: Itraconazole interacts with many medicines (statins, anticoagulants, TB medicines, antacids, etc.)
