Uses / Indications

Candiforce 200 Capsule is prescribed for the treatment of systemic and superficial fungal infections, including:

• Onychomycosis (fungal nail infections)

• Dermatophytosis (ringworm, jock itch, athlete’s foot)

• Pityriasis versicolor (fungal skin discoloration)

• Candidiasis (oral, esophageal, vaginal & systemic)

• Aspergillosis, Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis (systemic fungal infections)

• Fungal keratitis (eye infection, if prescribed)

Mechanism of Action

• Itraconazole (Triazole antifungal):

  • Inhibits ergosterol synthesis (an essential component of fungal cell membrane)

  • Weakens fungal cell wall → stops growth & kills fungus

• Broad-spectrum antifungal → effective for both superficial & deep fungal infections

Dosage & Administration

• Adults:

  • Superficial fungal infections: Usually 200 mg once daily or 100 mg twice daily

  • Onychomycosis: 200 mg once daily for 12 weeks (or pulse therapy 200 mg twice daily for 1 week per month × 3–4 months)

• To be taken after a full meal for better absorption

• Dose & duration depend on infection type & severity (strictly as per doctor’s prescription)

Side Effects

• Common: nausea, stomach upset, headache, dizziness

• Rare: liver enzyme elevation, swelling, skin rash, irregular heartbeat

• Severe (rare): liver toxicity, heart failure (at high dose/prolonged use)

Precautions & Warnings

• Use only on doctor’s prescription

• Contraindicated in patients with congestive heart failure or liver disease

• May interact with many medicines (statins, anticoagulants, antacids, TB medicines, etc.)

• Pregnant & breastfeeding women: not recommended unless prescribed
