Composition

Each capsule contains:

• Ramipril 5 mg

Uses / Indications

Cardace 5mg Capsule is prescribed for:

• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – helps lower and control BP.

• Heart Failure – improves heart function and survival.

• Post-Myocardial Infarction (after heart attack) – reduces risk of recurrence and complications.

• Prevention of stroke, kidney disease, and cardiovascular events in high-risk patients (like diabetes or chronic kidney disease).

Mechanism of Action

• Ramipril is an ACE Inhibitor (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor).

• Prevents conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II → avoids narrowing of blood vessels.

• Relaxes and widens arteries → lowers blood pressure.

• Reduces heart strain, improves circulation, and protects kidneys.

Dosage & Administration

• Usual adult dose: 2.5–10 mg daily.

• 5 mg once daily is a common maintenance dose.

• Dose may be adjusted depending on BP control and patient condition.

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Take at the same time daily.

• Do not discontinue without medical advice.

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Potassium supplements / potassium-sparing diuretics

• NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac – may reduce effectiveness & harm kidneys)

• Lithium (risk of toxicity)
