Uses / Indications
Cefakind 50 Dry Syrup is prescribed for infants and children in mild to moderate bacterial infections, such as:

Respiratory tract infections: pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia

Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) infections: otitis media, sinus infections

Urinary tract infections (UTI)

Skin & soft tissue infections: cellulitis, abscess, wound infections

Post-operative infections
Mechanism of Action

Cefuroxime (2nd generation cephalosporin antibiotic):

Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis
-
Leads to bacterial lysis & death (bactericidal)

Effective against a broad range of Gram-positive & Gram-negative bacteria
Dosage & Administration

Children (Infants & Pediatric use):

Usual dose: 20–30 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses, as prescribed by pediatrician

Reconstitution:

Add boiled & cooled water up to the mark on bottle → shake well to form suspension

Shake well before each use
-
Use provided measuring spoon/cup for correct dose

Give after meals for better absorption

Use within 7–10 days after reconstitution
Side Effects

Common: diarrhea, nausea, mild stomach pain, headache

Rare: rash, oral thrush, dizziness, vaginal yeast infection

Severe (rare): allergic reaction, antibiotic-associated diarrhea (C. difficile infection)
Precautions & Warnings
