Uses / Indications

Ciplar 20mg Tablet is prescribed for:

  • Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

  • Angina (chest pain due to heart disease)

  • Arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythms)

  • Prevention of Migraine headaches

  • Anxiety management (performance anxiety, palpitations, tremors)

  • Thyrotoxicosis (overactive thyroid symptoms)

  • Post-heart attack care – lowers risk of recurrence and improves survival


Mechanism of Action

  • Propranolol is a Non-selective Beta-Blocker.

  • Blocks Beta-1 (heart) and Beta-2 (lungs, blood vessels) receptors.

  • Lowers heart rate & contractility → reduces BP and chest pain.

  • Controls abnormal heart rhythms.

  • Prevents adrenaline-related symptoms like tremors, palpitations, and anxiety.


Dosage & Administration

  • Usual adult dose: 20–40 mg, 2–3 times daily (varies with condition).

  • 20 mg is a standard strength for hypertension, angina, and anxiety.

  • Take with or immediately after food (improves absorption & reduces stomach upset).

  • Swallow whole with water.
