Composition

Each 2 ml respule contains:

• Budesonide 0.5 mg or 1 mg (depending on strength prescribed)

• Formoterol Fumarate Dihydrate 0.5 mg

• Sodium chloride & sterile water (excipients)

(Strength varies – available in Foracort 0.5 mg Respules and Foracort 1 mg Respules.)

Uses / Indications

Foracort Respules are prescribed for:

1. Asthma (moderate to severe) – long-term control.

2. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

3. Chronic bronchitis & emphysema.

4. Prevention of frequent wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and breathlessness.

How It Works

• Budesonide → reduces airway inflammation & swelling.

• Formoterol → relaxes airway smooth muscles for up to 12 hours.

• Together → provide dual action: better asthma/COPD control & prevention of attacks.

Dosage (General Guide – only as prescribed by doctor)

• Adults & Children (≥6 years): Usually 1 respule (2 ml) via nebuliser, twice daily.

• Children (<6 years): Dose depends on doctor’s advice.

• Not for emergency asthma attacks (rescue inhaler required separately).

How to Use

1. Twist open the respule.

2. Empty the liquid into nebuliser chamber.

3. Inhale the mist deeply through mouth using mask/mouthpiece (5–10 minutes).

4. Discard leftover solution after each session.

5. Rinse mouth after use to prevent fungal infection.

Side Effects

Common: Throat irritation, cough, hoarseness, oral thrush, headache, tremors.
Serious (rare): Chest pain, irregular heartbeat, allergic reaction, worsening breathing.

Precautions & Warnings

• Not for sudden asthma relief.

• Rinse mouth after each use.

• Use with caution in heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders, infections.

• Do not stop treatment suddenly.

• Safe in pregnancy & breastfeeding only if prescribed.

Storage

• Store below 30°C in original foil pack.

• Use immediately after opening.

• Keep out of reach of children.
