Generic Name: Vildagliptin 50 mg
Category: Oral Anti-Diabetic (DPP-4 Inhibitor)
Description:
Galvus 50 mg Tablet is an oral anti-diabetic medicine used to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults. It contains Vildagliptin, which belongs to the class of DPP-4 inhibitors (Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 inhibitors).
It helps lower blood sugar by increasing incretin hormone levels. Incretins stimulate the pancreas to release insulin only when blood sugar is high and reduce glucose production by the liver. This dual action improves blood sugar control both after meals and during fasting.
Galvus can be prescribed alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic medicines such as Metformin, Sulfonylureas, Thiazolidinediones, or Insulin.
