Description

Glimiprex-M2 Tablet is a dual therapy antidiabetic medicine containing Glimepiride and Metformin.

  • Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin.

  • Metformin lowers glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.

This combination helps achieve better glycemic control in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, especially when monotherapy is not effective.


Uses / Indications

  • Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Helps lower fasting and post-meal blood sugar levels

  • Reduces long-term risk of diabetic complications (kidney disease, neuropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular issues)

  • Used in patients who need stronger control than Glimiprex-M1


Dosage (General Guidance)

(As directed by physician)

  • Adults: 1 tablet once or twice daily with meals

  • Dose adjusted according to blood sugar levels

  • Should be taken at the same time daily

Route: Oral


Side Effects

  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar: sweating, shakiness, dizziness)

  • Nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset (due to Metformin)

  • Headache, weakness

  • Rare: Lactic acidosis (serious but rare with Metformin), allergic reactions, liver enzyme elevation


Precautions / Warnings

  • Not for Type 1 Diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis

  • Avoid alcohol (↑ risk of lactic acidosis & hypoglycemia)

  • Caution in patients with kidney, liver, or heart problems

  • Requires regular monitoring of blood sugar, kidney function, and HbA1c

  • Not usually recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding (insulin preferred)
