Uses / Indications
Gudcef 50 Dry Syrup is prescribed for children (pediatric use) in:

Respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis

Ear, nose & throat (ENT) infections: otitis media, pharyngitis

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Skin & soft tissue infections (cellulitis, wound infection, abscess)

Mild gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible bacteria
Mechanism of Action

Cefpodoxime (3rd gen cephalosporin):

Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis → weakens & kills bacteria

Active against a wide range of Gram-positive & Gram-negative bacteria

Dosage & Administration

Children: Dose based on weight (mg/kg/day), usually divided every 12 hours, as per pediatrician’s advice

Reconstitution: Add boiled & cooled water to the dry powder up to the marked line → shake well

Shake bottle well before each dose

Administer with the provided measuring spoon/dropper

To be taken after meals for better absorption

Use reconstituted syrup within 7–10 days (store in refrigerator if advised)
Side Effects

Common: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, mild rash

Rare: headache, dizziness, oral thrush (fungal infection)

Severe (rare): persistent diarrhea (C. difficile), jaundice, severe allergic reaction
