Uses / Indications
Gudcef-CV Dry Syrup is prescribed for children to treat bacterial infections such as:

Respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis

ENT infections: otitis media, sinus infections

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Skin & soft tissue infections (abscess, cellulitis, wound infection)

Mechanism of Action
-
Cefpodoxime (3rd gen cephalosporin): Kills bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis
-
Clavulanic Acid: Inhibits β-lactamase enzyme → prevents resistance → enhances cefpodoxime effect

Combined Effect: Potent against resistant bacterial strains in pediatric infections
Dosage & Administration

Children: Dose based on body weight (mg/kg/day), usually given every 12 hours as advised by pediatrician

Reconstitution: Add boiled & cooled water to the dry powder up to the marked line, shake well
-
Shake well before each use

Administer with measuring cup/syringe provided

Complete full course even if child feels better
Side Effects

Common: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, mild rash

Rare: fungal infections, dizziness, liver enzyme elevation

Severe (rare): persistent diarrhea (C. difficile), jaundice, allergic reaction
Precautions & Warnings
