Uses / Indications
Gudcef-O 200 Tablet is prescribed for treatment of bacterial infections, including:

Respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis

ENT infections: otitis media, sinus infections

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Skin & soft tissue infections: cellulitis, abscess, wound infection

Gonorrhoea (uncomplicated cases)

Bone & joint infections (under specialist supervision)
Mechanism of Action

Cefpodoxime (3rd gen cephalosporin):
-
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis → weakens & kills bacteria

Broad-spectrum activity against both Gram-positive & Gram-negative bacteria

Helps treat infections resistant to older antibiotics
Dosage & Administration

Adults: 1 tablet every 12 hours, or as directed by physician

To be taken with food for better absorption

Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve early
Side Effects

Common: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach upset

Rare: dizziness, headache, rash, itching, oral/vaginal fungal infection

Severe (rare): persistent diarrhea (C. difficile infection), liver enzyme elevation, severe allergy
Precautions & Warnings

Use only under doctor’s prescription

Not effective against viral infections (cold, flu)

Caution in patients with kidney or liver impairment
