Product Description:

Lariago 250 Tablet contains Chloroquine Phosphate, an antimalarial drug. It is mainly prescribed for the treatment and prevention of malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium falciparum (sensitive strains). It is also sometimes used in the treatment of amoebic liver abscess and certain autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, as directed by a physician.

Uses / Indications:

• Treatment of Malaria

• Prevention of malaria in endemic areas

• Amoebic liver abscess

• Autoimmune conditions (Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus) (only when prescribed)

Dosage & Administration:

• Usual adult dose for malaria treatment: 600 mg initially, followed by 300 mg after 6–8 hours, then 300 mg daily for 2–3 days

• For prophylaxis: 300 mg once weekly in malaria-prone areas

• Should be taken with food to reduce stomach upset
  (Exact dosage to be given only by doctor depending on age, weight, and condition)

Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset

• Headache, dizziness, blurred vision

• Itching, skin rash

• Rare but serious: Retinal damage (with long-term use), heart rhythm disturbances

Precautions:

• Use strictly under doctor’s supervision

• Not recommended in patients with retinal disease, G6PD deficiency, epilepsy, or heart problems

• Regular eye check-up needed if used for long duration

• Safe use in pregnancy should be guided by a doctor

• Avoid alcohol during treatment
