Metolar XR 25mg Tablet is prescribed for:

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

Mechanism of Action
-
Metoprolol is a Beta-1 Selective Blocker.

Slows down the heart rate, reduces pumping force → lowers BP.

Reduces oxygen demand of the heart → relieves angina.

Stabilizes abnormal heart rhythms.

XR (Extended-Release) formulation → provides 24-hour coverage with once-daily dose.
Dosage & Administration

Usual adult dose: 25–200 mg once daily, depending on condition.

25 mg once daily is a common starting dose.

Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew (extended-release).

Take with or just after meals.

Do not discontinue suddenly – may cause rebound hypertension, angina, or arrhythmias.
