Uses / Indications

Monticop Kid Syrup is prescribed in children for:

  • Allergic rhinitis (sneezing, runny nose, congestion, watery eyes)

  • Seasonal allergies (pollen, dust, pet dander)

  • Asthma prevention (maintenance therapy, not for acute attacks)

  • Chronic urticaria (skin allergy, hives, itching)

  • Wheezing & cough associated with allergies


Mechanism of Action

  • Montelukast: Blocks leukotrienes → reduces airway inflammation & prevents bronchospasm

  • Levocetirizine: Antihistamine (H1 blocker) → relieves sneezing, itching, nasal congestion & watery eyes

  • Combined Effect: Controls both allergic symptoms + asthma triggers in children


Dosage & Administration

  • Children (2–6 years): 5 ml once daily in the evening, or as directed by pediatrician

  • Children (6–14 years): May require higher dose as prescribed

  • To be taken with or without food

  • Use provided measuring cap/spoon for accurate dosing

  • Not for sudden asthma attacks (rescue inhaler required in emergencies)


Side Effects

  • Common: drowsiness, headache, stomach upset, dry mouth
