Uses / Indications

Moxikind-CV 1 gm Injection is used in moderate to severe bacterial infections, including:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, bronchitis

  • ENT infections (severe tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media)

  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

  • Skin & soft tissue infections (cellulitis, abscess, wound infections)

  • Bone & joint infections

  • Intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis, biliary tract infections)

  • Septicemia & post-surgical infections


Mechanism of Action

  • Amoxicillin: Broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis

  • Clavulanic Acid: Inhibits β-lactamase enzyme, preventing bacterial resistance

  • Combined Effect: Potent action against resistant & β-lactamase producing bacteria


Dosage & Administration

  • Adults: Usually 1.2 g every 8–12 hours, depending on severity of infection

  • Given by Intravenous (IV) infusion or Intramuscular (IM) injection

  • Dose & duration must be prescribed by physician only

  • To be administered by a registered healthcare professional


Side Effects

  • Common: pain at injection site, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting

  • Rare: skin rash, oral/vaginal fungal infections, liver enzyme elevation

  • Severe (rare): anaphylaxis, persistent diarrhea (C. difficile infection), jaundice


Precautions & Warnings

  • Use only under doctor’s supervision in hospital/clinic setup

  • Not effective for viral infections (cold, flu)

  • Caution in patients with:

    • Liver disease, kidney impairment

    • History of penicillin/cephalosporin allergy
