Composition

Each tablet contains:

  • Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg (Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker – ARB)

  • Amlodipine 5 mg (Calcium Channel Blocker – CCB)


Uses / Indications

Olmezest-AM 20/5 Tablet is prescribed for:

  • Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – when single medicine is not enough.

  • Reducing risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney complications caused by high BP.

  • Effective in patients with Type 2 Diabetes and hypertension for cardiovascular protection.


Mechanism of Action

  • Olmesartan (ARB): Blocks angiotensin II → prevents blood vessel constriction → lowers BP.

  • Amlodipine (CCB): Relaxes and dilates arteries by blocking calcium entry → improves blood flow & reduces heart’s workload.

  • Together they give dual action for stronger and longer blood pressure control.


Dosage & Administration

  • Usual adult dose: 1 tablet once daily.

  • Take at the same time each day.

  • Can be taken with or without food.

  • Do not stop without consulting your doctor.


Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Dizziness, headache

  • Swelling of ankles/feet (from Amlodipine)

  • Fatigue, weakness

  • Stomach upset, flushing

Serious but rare:

  • Severe low BP

  • High potassium (from Olmesartan)

  • Kidney impairment

  • Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)


Precautions & Warnings
