Uses / Indications

Pari CR 62.5 Tablet is prescribed in moderate to severe psychiatric conditions, including:

• Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

• Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

• Panic Disorder

• Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)

• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

• Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)

Mechanism of Action

• Paroxetine (SSRI):

  • Increases serotonin levels in the brain by inhibiting reuptake

  • Improves mood, reduces anxiety, stabilizes obsessive thoughts & panic symptoms

• CR (Controlled Release): Provides sustained release → maintains stable drug levels, better compliance, fewer side effects

Dosage & Administration

• Adults: Usually 62.5 mg once daily, as prescribed by psychiatrist

• Take in the morning with food

• Swallow whole – do not crush or chew (to maintain controlled release)

• If discontinuing, taper gradually to avoid withdrawal effects

Side Effects

• Common: nausea, drowsiness, headache, sweating, dry mouth, constipation, dizziness

• Sexual side effects: decreased libido, delayed ejaculation, difficulty achieving orgasm

• Rare: weight gain, tremors, blurred vision, restlessness

• Severe (rare): suicidal thoughts (especially in young adults early in therapy), serotonin syndrome

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution in patients with bipolar disorder, seizure history, severe kidney/liver disease

• Avoid alcohol (increases sedation and side effects)
