Composition

Each tablet contains:

• Ramipril 2.5 mg

Uses / Indications

Remistar 2.5mg Tablet is prescribed for:

• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – lowers BP and prevents complications.

• Heart Failure – improves symptoms and survival.

• Post-Myocardial Infarction (after heart attack) – lowers risk of recurrence.

• Prevention of stroke, kidney disease, and cardiovascular complications in high-risk patients (like diabetes or chronic kidney disease).

Mechanism of Action

• Ramipril is an ACE Inhibitor (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor).

• Prevents conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II → reduces blood vessel narrowing.

• Relaxes and dilates arteries → lowers blood pressure.

• Reduces strain on the heart and improves blood circulation.

• Provides kidney protection in diabetic patients.

Dosage & Administration

• Usual adult dose: 2.5–10 mg daily.

• 2.5 mg once daily is a common starting dose.

• Dose is adjusted based on blood pressure and patient response.

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Take at the same time daily.

• Do not discontinue without doctor’s advice.

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Dizziness, headache

• Persistent dry cough (common with ACE inhibitors)

Serious but rare:

• High potassium levels (hyperkalemia)

• Kidney impairment

Drug Interactions

• Other antihypertensive drugs

• Potassium supplements / potassium-sparing diuretics

• NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac – may reduce effect & damage kidneys)

• Lithium (risk of toxicity)
