Composition

Each tablet contains:

• Amlodipine Besylate equivalent to Amlodipine 10 mg

Uses / Indications

Stamlo 10mg Tablet is prescribed for:

• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – for patients not controlled with 5 mg.

• Angina Pectoris (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart).

• Coronary Artery Disease (CAD).

• Reduces long-term risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems associated with high BP.

Mechanism of Action

• Amlodipine is a Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB).

• Relaxes and widens blood vessels → lowers resistance and blood pressure.

• Improves blood and oxygen flow to heart muscles → prevents angina attacks.

• Decreases strain on the heart.

Dosage & Administration

• Usual adult dose: 5–10 mg once daily.

• 10 mg once daily is the maximum recommended dose.

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Should be taken at the same time daily.

• Do not skip or stop suddenly without medical advice.

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Swelling of ankles/feet (edema)

• Headache, dizziness, flushing

• Palpitations (fast heartbeat)

• Fatigue, weakness

Serious but rare:

• Severe drop in blood pressure

• Worsening of chest pain (rare at initiation)

• Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution if you have:

  • Severe liver disease

  • Heart failure

  • Very low blood pressure

• Avoid alcohol (may worsen dizziness).

• Pregnant & breastfeeding women should take only if prescribed.

• May cause dizziness → avoid driving or operating machines if affected.

Drug Interactions

• Other antihypertensive medicines (additive effect)

• Antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole)

• Antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin)

• Grapefruit juice (may increase side effects)
