Description

Zifi 400 Tablet contains Cefixime 400 mg, a broad-spectrum 3rd generation cephalosporin antibiotic.
It kills bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.
This higher strength is mainly used in moderate to severe infections or where higher doses of Cefixime are required.

Uses / Indications

• Respiratory tract infections (tonsillitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• ENT infections (otitis media, sinusitis)

• Urinary tract infections (UTI)

• Typhoid fever (caused by Salmonella typhi)

• Skin & soft tissue infections

Dosage (General Guidance)

(As directed by physician)

• Adults: 400 mg once daily OR 200 mg twice daily

• Children (>12 yrs): May be used when higher dose required

• Duration: 5–14 days depending on severity & infection type

Route: Oral
Advice: Best taken after meals to improve absorption & reduce gastric upset

Side Effects

• Diarrhea, loose stools

• Nausea, abdominal discomfort, vomiting

• Rash, itching (allergy)

• Headache, dizziness

• Rare: Severe allergy, liver enzyme elevation, blood count changes

Precautions / Warnings

• Not effective in viral infections (cold, flu)

• Avoid in patients allergic to penicillin/cephalosporins

• Use cautiously in renal or hepatic impairment

• May cause antibiotic-associated diarrhea → probiotic may be advised

• Complete full course to prevent resistance

Drug Interactions

• Antacids (↓ absorption)

• Warfarin (↑ bleeding risk)

• Probenecid (↑ Cefixime levels)
